Description
The piA-AM3354 is a Linux single board computer in a DIN rail housing based on the ARM® Cortex™-A8 architecture. As a powerful and energy-saving Sitara single-board computer, the piA is suitable for stationary and mobile communication and control tasks. Due to its small size, it is ideal for solutions where there is not enough space for a PC or ATOM board.
In addition to Ethernet and USB, the system allows data exchange via CAN / CANOpen as well as wirelessly via 2G or LTE. Several modules can communicate via a CAN-based DIN rail bus (CH20M DIN rail bus), which replaces the complex individual wiring with an uninterrupted and flexible system solution. Common industrial peripherals can be connected via RS232 and RS485 ports.
The sustainability of the system is underlined by the use of Linux. As an alternative to the preconfigured Ångström basic system, any Linux distribution with ARMv7 support (e.g. Debian, Poky) can be used. A cross-compiler SDK (C/C++, QT, various libraries) is available for developing your own applications. Due to the architectural proximity to the widespread Beagleboards, countless code examples and documentation from a large developer community can be accessed. Automation projects can be easily configured and visualized with the available web-based software. In this way, users can get a comprehensive overview of the systems.
A performance upgrade is possible by replacing the processor module.
As an edge gateway, the piA-AM3354 serves as a link between real-time control and the cloud in order to benefit from the advantages of edge/fog computing at the system level. As a platform consisting of hardware, software and additional features, it forms a technical foundation for many applications - from real-time control to communication and remote maintenance.
With the pironex IoT-Cloud and the associated native app for iOS and Android, you have a comprehensive device management tool with numerous visualizations. With the cloud, you have a clear overview of your projects and connected devices.
